Laughter, resilience and challenge – Year 5 residential

The Year 5 King’s St Alban’s cohort eagerly arrived at school on Wednesday morning, full of excitement for their residential to PGL Boreatton Park in Shropshire. Anything but quiet, the coach journey on the way to PGL was full of laughter, chatter and a sing-song or two! It wasn’t long before the excited group arrived at the beautiful park, which is set in 250 acres of scenic countryside.

Speaking to the pupils at the start of the trip, the teachers accompanying them impressed upon the pupils that the main aim for them all was to show resilience and give everything a go. The staff couldn’t have asked the pupils for more in this respect. Over the course of three jam-packed days, they participated in a range of activities including the giant swing, sensory trail, survivor task, kayaking, aeroball, climbing and high ropes. With some pupils more confident than others, Mr Hooman and the other King’s St Alban’s staff were extremely proud of the way the pupils represented the School and how well they behaved throughout the trip. It really was a enjoyable trip for everyone involved; the children grew resilience, developed friendships, challenged themselves and created some lasting memories!

Arriving back at school on Friday afternoon, looking a little dishevelled and in need of a good shower, the Year 5 pupils were full of stories of their adventures and experiences; there is no doubt that they had thoroughly enjoyed the trip. One pupil commented, “I am totally exhausted; we simply didn’t stop but had the most awesome time with our friends. We got to try out lots of different activities and can’t wait for our Year 6 Residential.”  We think that says it  all and are delighted that everyone enjoyed the trip.
