Library visit sparks pupils imagination

This week our Year 6 pupils took another step closer to the Senior School with a visit to the Senior Library. This Transition Event is part of a wider programme of events designed to make the transition to Senior School as smooth as possible. Each Year 6 class visited the library on the Senior School site. They each spent an hour on site.

They were met by Annabel, one of the librarians. She led a discussion about reading habits with each of the classes. Annabel took the time to learn about the pupils’ favourite books.

Pupils then worked on creating a ‘Reading Map’, Annabel had laid out a wide variety of books. The children selected their favourite cover, blurb and start for different genres, including Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Adventure, Comedy, Crime, Fact, Graffix, School.

As they left, the pupils were given three free books. Some pupils borrowed a book. The pupils have been inspired with their reading and are all very excited about using the library when they start in the Senior School in September.
