Little Makers, Big Creations: Reception Class Build Emergency Vehicles

As part of their exciting ‘People Who Help Us’ topic, Reception have been busy transforming the classroom into a creative workshop as they designed and built their very own emergency vehicles. Working in small groups, pupils carefully discussed their ideas and decided which type of vehicle they would create, from fire engines and ambulances to police cars.

Using a wonderful selection of junk modelling materials, the children brought their designs to life with great enthusiasm, imagination and of course plenty of masking tape! They explored different shapes, joined materials together and worked collaboratively, developing their teamwork and problem-solving skills along the way.

Once the models were built, it was time to add colour. Pupils began painting their vehicles, choosing bright, bold colours and carefully adding details. The finishing touches will be added over the coming days, ready for a special moment in our upcoming assembly for parents on 11th February.

The children are already very excited about sharing their creations and their learning with parents, and there are sure to be a few surprises in store. We can’t wait to see their fantastic emergency vehicles proudly on display, a wonderful celebration of creativity, teamwork and learning in Reception!
