Making Waves: IAPS Swimming Qualifiers at Millfield
Last Thursday, we took 20 of our Year 5 and 6 pupils to compete in the IAPS Swimming Qualifiers, choosing to attend the event at Millfield School.
With over 4,000 competitors taking part across 35+ qualifying events nationwide during the spring term, this competition is a major event in the school swimming calendar. The fastest 1,500 swimmers from all qualifiers will be invited to the finals at the London Aquatics Centre in the summer term.
Competing in a 50m pool, surrounded by swimmers from at least 15 other schools and a large audience, can be an intimidating experience. However, our pupils rose to the challenge brilliantly. Despite some pre-race nerves, every swimmer showed great determination, giving their best in each event. We were especially proud of the way they supported and encouraged one another throughout the day. While we witnessed some outstanding performances, we are unable to share the official results until they are released later this term.
A huge congratulations to all our swimmers—you were fantastic, and we are incredibly proud of you!
