U10 Football Festival at RGS

Our U10 football team had a fantastic afternoon at RGS The Grange. In clear but windy conditions, the tournament commenced; we had a tough group, playing against The Elms, Warwick, King’s Hawford, Northwick and RGS. The boys were impressive all day, showing skill and enthusiasm throughout. Theo S put in an outstanding individual performance in the net; he was calm and decisive in his actions, which resulted in a few quality saves. A little further up the pitch, Sam T and Jack P made a reliable partnership in defence, putting in solid tackles to halt the opposing attack. Sam T also put in a shift at central midfield, where he dictated the flow of play and made some darting runs up the wing. Tom B slotted into the defence as the day went on, showing his pace to cover plenty of ground. Francis C was everywhere; his determination to affect play saw him cover the entire pitch from the midfield, and his ability to track back and help the back line was especially impressive . Joshua R, Reuben A and Rook T were dangerous up top, creating chances on goal and constantly pressuring the opposition. Aaron M and Monty E provided crosses and opportunities from the wings, having an immense impact on the game. All in all it was a fabulous day of football and fun; well done boys!

U11 Football Festival at King’s Hawford

The Year 6 football team finished the season with a fine performance at the King’s Hawford Football Festival. The boys played five games and displayed their best football of the season, winning one, drawing three and losing one game. Jack and Eddie alternated going in goal each game and had some time in the outfield. Will and Harry worked hard in defence, with Harry also playing a pivotal role in midfield in some of the games. Peter controlled the midfield and dropped back into defence when needed, and Ralphie and Charlie used their pace up front, with Leo playing in behind them. On the wings Ivan, Mortimer and Barnaby worked hard, with Ivan putting in a brilliant performance against RGS The Grange. What a great afternoon; well done boys!

U11 A and B Netball v Abberley

The girls had an amazing afternoon of netball in their penultimate matches on Wednesday. The B team played first, and it was clear that they have improved steadily during the term. Their moving and excellent footwork was very pleasing and they were drawing three-all going into the last quarter. Unfortunately, Abberley snuck through to win 5-3. There was superb play by all girls; we have been especially impressed with the progress they have made this year. Well done to Izzy, who was awarded Opposition Player of the Match. In the A team, we started off a little nervously, with a few dropped catches and wayward throws (it was very windy); however, they soon got into their stride. There was excellent footwork by all; the movement up the court was fast, they created space, and didn’t all go for the ball at the same time. Abberley were a very strong team and put our girls through their paces. However, our shooting from Penny and Emily was on point and we won 9-3. Well done to Sienna D, who was awarded Opposition Player of the Match. Well done girls, and good luck to the five Year 6s who will play in a joint tournament with Hawford tomorrow at Warwick.
