Supporting Malvern St James Families

We are sorry to hear the news regarding Malvern St James School and recognise how difficult and unsettling this will be for its community.

The King’s Worcester Foundation wishes to offer a supportive and practical conversation to MSJ families who may be considering their next steps for September. Where appropriate, we would be happy to discuss potential places across our schools and to answer any questions.

House Matches at King’s Hawford

This week all the girls and boys participated in the much awaited house matches.

Netball house matches

Bredon, Kinver, Clent and Malvern battled it out on two beautifully sunny afternoons demonstrating an incredibly high standard of Netball across the board and everyone having made exceptional progress since the start of the term. The houses were led by the House Captains; Pippa P, Pip K, Jess K, and Mary W.

As ever, the school values are never more present than during sport and in particular house matches. We witnessed a great desire and ambition to win, huge resilience never to give up, kindness to their own teammates and the opposition through sportsmanship, creativity in their play and a beautiful display of humility at the end of each match with three cheers for the opposition and thanks to the umpires.

After a fantastic afternoon of Netball, it came down to a very close finish for the Year 5 & 6 competition with Malvern and Clent even on points at the end but Malvern just clinched the win on goal difference. The Year 3 & 4 competition was just as tight with only 1 point separating the top three but Bredon were final winners with Malvern in 2nd, Clent in 3rd and Kinver in 4th.

Well done to all the girls involved and a special mention to year 6 who participated in their final Netball House matches for King’s Hawford before they move up to Big King’s next year.

Football

The final week of term saw the termly house matches taking place. The boys from Bredon, Clent, Kinver and Malvern battled it out on the football pitches to earn much coveted points for their houses. Both the senior and junior competitions were played in superb spirit with resilience, humility, sportsmanship and teamwork at the fore. The boys’ games staff were delighted with the way in which the boys approached the matches and demonstrated superb levels of organisation and leadership with the different year groups seamlessly coming together for the benefit of their team’s performances.
After two afternoons of excellent football, the combined scores resulted in Clent coming out on top with 16 points, closely followed by Kinver and Malvern, with 15 and 14 points respectively, just two points ahead of Bredon who finished on 12 points.
