Netballers finish season on a high.

U8 Netball v Winterfold House School

The Year 3 girls travelled to Winterfold House School for their last U8 netball match of the year. They played as three teams and quickly adapted to the new rules of attacking, defending and positioning. There was excellent teamwork and communication displayed throughout, with particular mention due to Charlotte P, Florrie and Maysie, who offered to play for the other team to make up numbers. The girls have made an enormous amount of progress since the beginning of the netball season, and it was wonderful to watch a final display of all that they have learned.

U9 Netball v Winterfold House School

On a chilly, but bright Tuesday afternoon, the Year 4 girls had their last fixture of the netball season against Winterfold.

A strong looking team on paper were met by a strong looking team in person and from the first blow of the whistle we knew this was going to be an exciting game.

But the Year 4 girls had the passion; arise the endeavour of the King’s Hawford Netballers. The team emerged from the second rotation hungry for goals, after finishing the first rotation goalless. Millie B and Pippa P were a force in front of goal; the players in defence, Mary, Lily and Elizabeth were dynamic, fighting to stop the ball entering the opponents D; the determination of Jess K around the court was impressive and her goal brought resounding cheers from watching families. In the third rotation, the vision of Lyra H and the dependability and attitude of Millie B saw the team really shake things up and unsettle the opposition, just when they were at their most comfortable.

All the girls were intercepting and moving, dominating and controlling the play from the centre third, but so were Winterfold.

It was a nail-biting game, with injuries and ice packs, ending in a draw; the staff accompanying the girls couldn’t have been prouder. The team never gave up and showed what a super group we have going forward to Year 5. Player of the Match was awarded to Millie B.

We are excited for the future of netball at King’s Hawford and the coaches very much look forward to working with the players in the future!

We enjoyed another action-packed day of netball on Tuesday with Mrs Beech on one court, Ms Layton on the other and families on the side of the courts showing support for the last match of the season.

As always the girls were eager to impress and were excited for the match against Winterfold.

They showed great determination and teamwork; the passing was accurate and the girls used the wings of the court to control the play and make the opposition really fight for the ball. There was some lovely defending and accurate shooting, something the Games staff  have been working hard on with the girls. These efforts really showed as the team demonstrated their control of the court and got the ball into the D for our shooters.

A lovely combination of passes saw Iza, Sophie and Olivia G work well as attacking players with Olivia W, Chloe and Pip K working hard in defence. Thea was super in reading the game and controlling the centre court play, supported by her team. Pip K was awarded Player of the Match.

The girls have improved immensely over the netball season and should be extremely proud of their efforts in matches and in club and lessons. Going forward into Year 5, we have a lovely netball squad who have showed development and improvement throughout this season.
