Number Facts in Action in Year 1

Year 1 have been busy in their maths lessons this week, developing their understanding of key number facts such as doubles, near doubles and number bonds to 10 and 20. They have been working hard to improve the speed and confidence of their recall, recognising how these facts support their learning across maths.

Through a range of engaging activities, pupils have been applying this knowledge to addition and subtraction, using their number facts to solve problems more efficiently and explain their thinking. It has been great to see their growing confidence and accuracy as they put these strategies into practice.
