As our thoughts turn to next academic year, and all the excitement that this brings to our pupils as they transition to their next class, Nursery pupils are by no means overlooked here at King’s St Alban’s. Our Nursery cohort, who are due to start their formal school journey in September, were treated to a splashing good time early this week.
With a swimming pool on site here at King’s St Alban’s, the children were super excited to get their swimming costumes on, jump in (well almost!) and experience a swimming lesson. In Reception, all children will have a swimming lesson each week, led by our experienced swimming coaches and teaching assistants. Adept at developing our pupils’ swimming skills and confidence, they ensure that lessons are also great fun!
It was so lovely to see the beaming smiles on the children’s faces, even having the chance to splash their friends and teachers! All of the children were strapped into a floating fin and, with the help of a member of staff, they had a go at blowing bubbles and kicking their legs from one side of the pool to the other. The children seemed to enjoy thoroughly the chance to get into the pool. Over the coming weeks, this lively cohort will be making regular visits to the pool in order to develop their confidence.
Prior to the summer holidays, all of our pupils will take part in a comprehensive transition programme, which will see them getting a flavour of what life is like in the next year up. They will get to know their new class teachers, experience new subjects and make new friends, as we welcome children joining us from other schools in September. We look forward to sharing our transition activities in due course.
