Phonics in Action in Reception
This week, Reception have been working really hard in their phonics lessons and making great progress. This term, they have been learning digraphs, which is an exciting step up from single sounds, helping them to blend and read more complex words with growing confidence.
They have enjoyed practising each new letter formation and sharing the daily story linked to their new sound, which has helped to bring their learning to life. The highlight of the week was a fun word hunt around the classroom, where pupils put their phonics knowledge into action.
They loved choosing their own words to write, searching for the matching cards and checking carefully to see if they were correct. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, independence and pride in their work.
Well done, Reception, for such fantastic effort and progress in phonics this week.
