Pirate Maths Adventures in Year 1

As part of their exciting topic, Adventures of the Sea, Year 1 pupils have been bringing maths to life through a fun pirate-themed lesson all about division.

Pupils took on the important role of quartermaster aboard a pirate ship, carefully sharing treasure equally among their pirate crew. Through practical activities and teamwork, they explored the concept of division while developing their understanding of equal groups and sharing.

The class showed fantastic focus and enthusiasm throughout the lesson and were even beginning to make links between division and their multiplication facts. It was wonderful to see pupils applying their mathematical thinking in such a creative and engaging way.
