This week in Nursery we have used ‘Dear Zoo’ by Rod Campbell as our book of the week. The book has inspired all of this week’s activity and play.
During Forest School, our children became explorers and went on a animal hunt. Paper and toy animals were hidden around the school for our eagle eyed children to spot. Children also gave our new animal friends a bubble bath and built houses for them to live in. We also taught the children animal-themed songs and got everyone to pretend to be animals – everyone’s favourite was to roar like a lion!
Pre-Prep have been continuing with their hard work at home for part of this week. We have been so proud with the Growth Mindset they have demonstrated and it has been lovely to see photos coming in with their smiling faces.
Reception have been continuing to practise counting this week and looking at the value of each number. They have played some fun games earlier on in the week in class and they have been looking specifically at the number 2 and how to form it. We had some fantastic examples of our children finding the right amount of objects to match a piece of Numicon. Well done, Reception!
Year 1 have been learning all about coins this week and they have been finding out more about the value of different coins. They had fun looking at what all of the coins looked like and how to identify each of the coins. Children have also started looking at capital letters and they have done some fantastic matching up of lower case and upper case letters.
Meanwhile, Year 2 have been learning about verbs this week in English. They had a great time in their form sessions thinking of a verb and acting it out for their friends to guess. They have also enjoyed continuing to find out about castles and particularly the different features of a castle. Great fun was had labelling a castle and finding out about what happened in the different parts of the castle.
We’d like to thank all of the parents for their support this week in helping us to continue the children’s learning at home!
