All of Pre-Prep had great fun during their visits to the Hive on Monday and Wednesday of this week. Year One and Two enjoyed their walk through the Cathedral and the city centre to reach the library, taking in the sounds of the street performers on the way.
All of the children enjoyed a story time. Year Two were particularly enthralled when listening to Mr Twit from our guide, Vanya, who even had his own Mr Twit beard. We found out about how many books live in the library and all of the different types which included audio books, board books for babies, picture books, non-fiction books and a wide range of novels. Because there are so many types of books in the library we had great fun learning and testing out the sorting machine, which sorts the books into the section of the library that it needs to go back to.
With so many books to choose from, the children thought it was fantastic to be able to go and choose two books that they were able to take home. Some of the children chose non-fiction books about a subject that they are interested in, or their current topic. Some chose a favourite story. They all used their own library cards to withdraw the books that they had chosen.
All the classes had a fantastic time and we look forward to hearing about all of the lovely books that they took home.
