Pre-Prep Christingle Service captivates audience

On Friday afternoon, Pre-Prep took part in their annual Christingle service. All of the children have been working hard preparing for this special service. Over the past few weeks, the Pre-Prep Department has been filled with music as the children joyfully practiced their songs. Year 2 had the responsibility of doing many of the readings this year in their role at the top of Pre-Prep and the children worked diligently to learn their readings. Each child created their own Christingle ahead of the service and enjoyed learning about the significance of each part that makes it up.

This year’s service was led by Reverend Dorsett, who welcomed a large congregation of parents to Worcester Cathedral for the service. The Cathedral looked resplendent as always and reminded us how lucky we are to have access to such a remarkably historic building. It was wonderful to have King’s St Alban’s pupil Rory W to accompany the children on the organ during the service. As always, he played magnificently and impressed the congregation with his perfect playing.

Year 2 were brilliant at delivering their readings explaining the story of the Christingle. Each child read confidently and clearly and all of the Pre-Prep children, from Reception to Year 2, sang the hymns beautifully. The last song was certainly delivered with a great deal of enthusiasm! The children really were a credit to the School and their teachers. They each held their lit Christingle in a very sensible manner and embraced the message behind the service. Year 2 closed the service with a Christingle prayer. As the children filed out of the Cathedral, Rory W treated everyone to a final piece on the organ. It was a wonderful service and the Pre-Prep teachers were extremely proud of all of the children involved. The collection during the service raised £88 for The Children’s Society.
