Pre-Prep dazzle parents with “the greatest show!”

On Tuesday afternoon, the King’s St Alban’s Pre-Prep children treated their parents to the greatest show: their annual summer performance. This year the theme was Circus, following on from their Arts Week at the beginning of the summer term. The hall was full of the children’s art work and they had been rehearsing hard.

The Pre-Prep Hall was packed with parents from Nursery to Year 2 as the children entered in their colourful circus costumes, excited to perform their show. Mrs Gunter had carefully planned all the musical items around the circus theme and each year group sang their hearts out; the Year 2 children also wowed the audience with their recorder playing. We welcomed our Nursery 2 (Swans) children to the show for the first time and they joined Reception Class. We were very proud of how loudly they sang and how brave they were to stand up in front of such a large audience. The singing was interspersed with performances from our Year 2 soloists, Max, Daisy, Elodie, Iris and Daniel, who played their pieces with great confidence.

The highlight of the show for the children was the performance of their circus skills in the middle of the show. Building on our work from their workshop, the children performed plate spinning, balancing feathers, hula-hooping, stilts and gymnastics. We also had a visit from five very silly clowns! The circus was kept in check by ringmaster, Savannah, who relished her role.

The extravaganza finished with a beautiful rendition of Tightrope sung by the whole of Pre-Prep and a carefully choreographed dance to This is the Greatest Show. It was wonderful to see the children enjoying themselves and performing so confidently for their families.

The afternoon was rounded off perfectly with a cream tea for the adults and an ice-lolly for the children in Forest School to celebrate a wonderful afternoon. Well done, Pre-Prep!
