Pre-Prep enjoy CBSO trip to round off half-term
There was great excitement on Friday, as all the children in Pre-Prep boarded the coach for a special trip to the CBSO Centre in Birmingham. Each year, the world-famous City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra organise schools’ concerts for each of the four Key Stages, and it has become a KSA tradition that we attend these whenever possible. Years Three and Four enjoyed their trip on Tuesday, and Pre-Prep were equally excited about their turn!
The theme of the concert was Dinosaur Disco and the children were treated to a wide variety of music, including Jurassic Park by John Williams to get everyone in the mood. Everyone loved helping the musicians find the six dinosaurs which had become lost in the CBSO Centre, using the dinosaurs’ “special skills” (the elements of music) to help them find their way to the disco. Following rhythmic actions to accompany Short Ride on a Fast Machine by John Adams to find the “stompasaurus”, and trying out the “dynometer” to locate the “whisperator” (to Nimrod by Elgar) were just some of the many lively ways in which the children experienced these superb pieces of classical music. Everyone enjoyed being up on their feet, and relished the chance to join in with the story. The morning ended with all the dinosaurs reunited, and we celebrated with a wonderful disco dance based on the dinosaurs’ special skills.
This was a wonderful trip, and a great way to end a musical half term in Pre-Prep.
