Pre-Prep Hall Bursts with Olympic Spirit: Young Stars Shine in Spectacular Summer Show!
The Pre-Prep Hall at King’s St Alban’s was buzzing with excitement on Wednesday afternoon as Reception, Year One, and Year Two children took to the stage for their highly anticipated Summer Show. Inspired by their Olympic-themed Arts Week, the young stars dazzled the audience with an array of songs, dances, instrumental performances, and dramatic dance, showcasing the incredible hard work they’ve put in throughout the term.
The show kicked off in grand Olympic style with an electrifying opening procession. The children paraded around the hall with flags from various countries, accompanied by the stirring strains of Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No.1. Their vibrant costumes and enthusiastic waving set the tone for an unforgettable afternoon. The energy soared as Dance Club lit up the stage with a spirited pom-pom dance, getting everyone in the perfect mood for the spectacle ahead.
Pre-Prep united in powerful renditions of motivational anthems like The Race of Life and We Are the Champions. Their impressive two-part harmony on Learn to Swim, complete with animated actions, left the audience in awe. Each class took the spotlight with individual songs, and the crowd joyfully joined Year One for the chorus of Kung Fu Fighting. The Year Two violin quartet of Archie, Akshay, Charlie, and Thomas amazed everyone with their skilled performance, while Year Two’s energetic Skate Park Stomp showcased the surprising beauty of recorder music.
The excitement peaked with a thrilling display of Olympic sports, featuring everything from swimming and gymnastics to archery and horse riding. The weightlifters brought the house down, nearly lifting the roof with their sheer enthusiasm! This captivating segment, set to the iconic theme from Chariots of Fire, was a stunning showcase of talent and dedication.
The grand finale was a showstopper, as Dance Club led the entire school in a vibrant ribbon dance to Katy Perry’s Firework. The stage exploded with colour and joy as a sea of ribbons waved in time with the music, closing the show on a high note. This spectacular afternoon of entertainment left everyone buzzing with excitement, perfectly primed for the upcoming Paris Olympics in just a few weeks!
