Pre-Prep Prize Giving: The Class of 2023 bow out

On Monday morning, we celebrated the Pre-Prep Class of 2023 and there wasn’t dry eye in The Barn as the Pre-Prep Prize Giving took the assembled family and friends on an emotional rollercoaster! This lovely event marks the end of the academic year for our Pre-Prep pupils, celebrating all of the children’s achievements of the year.

Mr Stignant started proceedings by welcoming the audience, before handing over to Ori A and Fearne B from Year Two. The girls acted as brilliant comperes for the event. The first to take to the stage were Reception, who sang Moving Up. The children performed with confidence, showing exactly how far they’ve come since the start of Reception in September.

After the performance, Miss Lane and Mrs Leatherdale spoke about Reception’s busy year and marvelled at all that they had accomplished. The children have grown in so many ways over the past three terms and have made their teachers extremely proud.

Ori and Fearne then introduced Year One, who performed A Little Bit of Kindness. It was clear to see that the children were enjoying their performance from the huge smiles on their faces as they belted out the lyrics. Mrs Rand and Miss Lake then reflected on the last three terms. The children have all worked hard throughout the year and are ready for the challenges that lie ahead in Year Two.

Year Two entertained the audience with Hawford School Rules. Both 2OR and 2RM sang their parts superbly! The academic year has flown by and Mr Marsland pointed out that Year Two have enjoyed a record number of school trips this year. Both teachers have been impressed by the children’s behaviour during trips offsite; they have been excellent ambassadors for King’s Hawford.

All children in Pre-Prep took part in a graduation style procession, where they shook hands with their teacher and received a small gift to mark this important step in their education journey.

There were also three other special performances on the day. Violin Group performed Ice Cream Van, in which they were expertly lead by Simi H. Dance Mix turned up the tempo with a high energy performance to School of Rock and Pre-Prep Sign Language Club signed along to True Colours. All of the children involved in these extra performances did especially well.

The final song was 7 days, which involved all of the children from Pre-Prep singing loudly together. From Reception to Year Two we are lucky to have a wonderful group of children who make up our Pre-Prep cohort. Mr Roberts closed the proceedings paying tribute to all of the Pre-Prep parents, the remarkable Pre-Prep staff, who go above and beyond daily, and, of course, the Pre-Prep pupils.

Well done Pre-Prep for a brilliant Prize Giving Celebration.
