Pre-Prep’s Crafty Christmas Day

Spirits were high in Pre-Prep on Wednesday, as our pupils took part in a Christmas-themed craft day. At the start of the day, the children in Pre-Prep were split into four different groups, with each group having a mix of children from each of the three year groups. It was wonderful to witness some of the blossoming friendships between year groups develop further through the course of the day.

During the day there was a carousel of different activities taking place in the Main House. In Mrs Rand’s classroom, she oversaw a baking activity. Children took it in turns to help Mrs Rand produce some chocolate bark and each group helped to break up the chocolate, which was subsequently melted and spread onto baking paper. The children then had to decide whether they wanted to make a reindeer or a melted snowman. Using pretzels, strawberry shoelaces and mini marshmallows, the children worked hard to create their sweet masterpieces.

Next door in Miss Kingston’s classroom, Mrs Leatherdale and Miss Kingston helped the children craft 2024 calendars, using paints and crayons. The children all listened carefully and produced some beautifully decorated calendars to share with their parents.

Upstairs in Mr Roberts’ classroom, pupils created some lovely baubles. Each child had their height recorded by Miss Lane, using festive ribbon which was then placed inside a clear bauble before being tightly sealed. Pupils then worked hard to decorate the accompanying label.

Across the hall in Mr Marsland’s classroom, the Year Two teachers kept children busy with a host of festive party games ranging from limbo to musical statues. A Christmas quiz also tested the children’s knowledge of Christmas songs and their singing talent.

All of the activities were completed to a background of Christmas tunes. It is safe to say that everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the day, which definitely helped the children and teachers get into the Christmas spirit.
