Prep pupils shine in Spring Concert

It was lovely to welcome a large audience of family and friends to College Hall on Thursday evening for the Prep School Spring Concert.

Our ensembles and choirs have been working very hard in their weekly rehearsals to prepare for this event, and all the children were both excited and nervous as the time drew near for their performance.

There was an incredibly wide range of music on offer, from the Wind Band’s traditional French song Sur le Pont d’Avignon to the Orchestra’s rousing Don’t Stop Believin’. The choristers gave a hauntingly beautiful performance of J.S. Bach’s Bist du Bei Mir and Junior Choir’s lively action song, Rollerghoster, complete with choral vomiting and snoring sounds, provided great entertainment. Senior Choir ended the concert in style with a rousing performance of Viva la Vida, followed by the poignant and tear-jerking Wherever You Are (the Military Wives Prayer).

Huge congratulations must go to our superb Year Six soloists: Ellie B (voice), Charlotte C (‘cello), George B (piano) and Alice W (voice). It takes great courage to stand up and perform in front of such a large audience and they really did themselves and the School proud, performing to an incredibly high standard with great composure and maturity.

This was a wonderful evening of music-making. Well done everyone!
