Prep School Concert showcases musical talent
There was a real buzz of excitement and anticipation in College Hall on Thursday evening, as parents, grandparents, teachers, and pupils gathered for the Prep School Autumn Concert.
The children have been working very hard all term in their choir and ensemble rehearsals to learn the music for this event, and they really did themselves proud. The variety of music on offer was impressive, and there was something for everyone. From Orchestra’s opening number, the Andante from The Surprise Symphony by Haydn, to the wonderful final item, Senior Choir’s superb performance of Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid, the audience were treated to music in a wide range of styles and genres.
Many of the children were performing in College Hall for the very first time and this will have been an unforgettable experience for them. Lots of the children have only taken up instruments recently, and it was lovely to see their excitement at their very first ensemble performance.
The poised and accomplished performances given by our Year Six soloists were very impressive. Emily (flute), Shreya (violin), Evie (piano) and Tom (guitar and vocals), joined by Sam (melodica), all performed beautifully and, although we are sure they were nervous, they all looked like seasoned professionals!
What a super evening! Well done everyone!
