Pupils embrace European Day of Languages
Throughout the King’s Foundation, we extol the value of having the ability to communicate in multiple languages, a skill which has become very important in today’s interconnected world. This week, we have celebrated European Day of Languages. This annual celebration of the rich linguistic tapestry that makes Europe so special is always warmly embraced by our pupils and staff alike.

On Tuesday, all of our pupils arrived at school in a array of different-coloured clothing, which represented colours from European flags. Some pupils and staff members were dressed in very imaginative European-themed costumes. It was wonderful to see how creative the pupils (and their parents) had been in crafting costumes for the day.

Our Modern Foreign Languages Lead, Mrs Hyde had put together a comprehensive range of activities for pupils to have a go at. Throughout the day, pupils were able to take part in quizzes and games, all of which were carefully tailored to suit Key Stage One or Key Stage Two. Pupils had an extra incentive to take part in the quizzes, as a number of House Points were up for grabs. Pupils across the School eagerly answered as many questions as they possibly could, thinking long and hard about their answers to ensure that they won points for their Houses! We wonder which House will come out on top?

During break-time and lunchtime, pupils continued the quiz theme, taking part in quizzes located in and around the garden area. Taking various formats, one task involved finding the relevant country’s flag, whilst another had pupils trying to find some famous sights from various European countries.
During Modern Foreign Language lessons throughout the day, pupils completed quizzes and puzzles, as well as word searches and much, much more! The fun continued for the rest of the week, with House Winners announced on Friday!
