Pupils Leadership Team Ready to Lead by Example

This week has been one of fresh starts. The start of the Spring Term has seen Mr Hawker take over the reins as Headmaster at King’s St Alban’s and one of his very first jobs was to appoint a new Pupil Leadership Team for the term.

The Autumn Term Prefects made history last year, as the tradition of school prefects was reintroduced after a 20-year hiatus. This term, the anticipation for the selection of Prefects and Heads of School was equally high, with a large number of Year Six pupils submitting applications. The selection process is modelled on the process in place for School Monitors at “Big King’s” and all Year Six pupils are invited to submit application letters.

The Prep School teachers had a tough job when it came to reviewing the applications. During the selection process, staff took into account not just academic achievements, but also leadership qualities, commitment to the School’s values and suitability for each individual role.

The announcement of the newly appointed Prefects and the Heads of School for this term was made in Assembly on Wednesday and was met with both excitement and a sense of duty.

We are delighted to announce that  Grace D, Humphrey D, Lottie F, Lily G, Jonas H, Suzie H, Rory S, Theo S, Alice W, and Sienna Y  have all been appointed as School Prefects for the Spring Term. Humphrey D and Sienna Y take up the roles of Citizenship Prefects, Jonas H and Rory S are our Academic Prefects, Grace D and Lily G have taken on the role of House Prefects, Lottie F and Theo S are our new Sports Prefects and Suzie H and Alice W are our Performing Arts Prefects.

Particular congratulations go to Emily S and Arslan S, who were also appointed as Heads of School. In this role, they will be expected to represent King’s St Alban’s and the pupil body, feel confident and comfortable talking to and in front of both adults and pupils, have good organisational and communication skills, and take a mature and thoughtful outlook.

Our very best wishes go to all our Spring Term leaders, who are ready to take on their responsibilities, inspire their fellow pupils, and guide the school community toward a successful and harmonious term.
