Pupils learn about Wonderful Water

This week, pupils in Years Four and Five have enjoyed a fully interactive workshop, courtesy of Severn Trent. The Wonderful Water Tour made a stop at King’s St Alban’s and educated our pupils about the role Severn Trent plays.

Pupils were able to take part in some excellent activities, including trying to decide where certain items should go that have been found at Severn Trent: should they go down the drain, or be put in the bin? The majority of children understood most destinations, but were quite surprised to find that even liquid fat should go in the bin. It was also most surprising to find out how many mobile phones had been found down the lavatory! The highlight of the event was the VR headsets that children were able to use, taking them on a journey through the treatment works to find out how we get fresh drinking water.

The interactive nature of the workshop meant that pupils were highly engaged throughout, and were inspired to ask some brilliant questions. Well done to Years Four and Five for getting hands on and learning about our wonderful water!
