Pupils share Inspirational People for GYM Homework
The theme for this half term’s GYM homework was “Inspirational People” and, as ever, we have been really impressed with the time and care that the children have taken with their optional GYM Homework projects over the weekend.
It has been fantastic to see the many eye-catching posters, videos and fact sheets all about the people whom the children see as good role models, along with their explanations of why they find them such an inspiration. Taylor Swift was a popular choice as well as Amelia Earhart, Florence Nightingale, Martin Luther King and the South African international rugby player, Chelsie Kobe, to name but a few.
Some children chose to take inspiration from significant artists, experimenting with different techniques and recreating pieces by Vincent Van Gogh and Steven Brown. We also saw some super inspirational quotation posters made to motivate and lift the spirits!
We enjoyed hearing more about inspirational people within the children’s favourite sports and hobbies, and it has been fun to play the “Who am I?” games created by the children, where we had to guess the inspirational person from some well-researched clues about their lives and achievements.
Not all of the projects were about famous people from further afield. Some focused on inspirational individuals found closer to home, a lovely example being a fantastic research project into each decade of the life of a family friend, who was 100 years old last week!
We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the individuals the children look up to and are inspired by. Well done to all who took part!
