Reception Celebrate Diwali and Bonfire Night!
Reception have enjoyed a wonderfully colourful week exploring two exciting celebrations: Diwali, the Festival of Lights, and Bonfire Night!
The children listened to the story of Rama and Sita, learning about the significance of Diwali and how light triumphs over darkness. Inspired by the story, they became little engineers, using their problem-solving skills and a range of different materials to design and build their own bridges to help Rama rescue Sita. There was plenty of creative thinking as they considered which materials would work best and how to make their structures strong enough!
Our celebrations continued with a burst of creativity as the children produced their own colourful firework pictures. In Maths, they explored shapes, patterns and repetition, using their growing mathematical knowledge to create their very own firework designs.
With Bonfire Night approaching, the children also learned about the importance of staying safe around fireworks and bonfires. To round off their learning, they made a delicious edible sparkler to enjoy at snack time – a rather tasty way to celebrate!
It has been a fantastic week filled with stories, creativity, problem-solving and hands-on learning. Reception have certainly brought a little sparkle to the classroom!
