Reception Create Stunning Winter Artwork

Reception have been hard at work this week creating some truly beautiful pieces of art as part of their Animals in Winter topic. The children have explored colour, texture, and shape through a series of creative activities that have brought the magic of winter to life in the classroom.

To begin, the pupils experimented with different shades of blue and white paint to produce their own snowy skies. They loved watching the colours blend and swirl, creating frosty backgrounds filled with movement and atmosphere. Once their skies were complete, the children designed and drew their own winter silhouettes, from trees and snow-covered hills to woodland animals, which they carefully layered on top for a striking contrast.

Their creativity didn’t stop there. Reception also made delightful penguin collages, using a mixture of tissue paper, cotton wool, and paint to build up soft textures and bold shapes. Each penguin has its own personality, and the children took great pride in choosing materials and arranging their designs.

To add the final touch, a sprinkle of glitter brought extra sparkle to every piece, just like fresh snow glistening in the winter sun.

All of this wonderful artwork will be proudly displayed in College Hall during our Nativity performances next week, and we cannot wait for families to see the children’s fantastic creations.
