Reception Discover the Wonderful People Who Help Us

Reception have had a fantastic first week back at school, bursting with curiosity and excitement as they launched their new topic: People Who Help Us. To begin, the children focused on the incredible individuals within our own school community who play a vital role in keeping everything running smoothly each day.

Their first stop was a visit to Sara, who helps keep everyone safe, organised and in the right place at the right time! The children loved seeing how busy her job is, answering the phone, passing on an important message to Mr Hawker, and even having a turn sitting in her all-important chair. Next, Reception headed to see Matron, who welcomed them into the medical room. She showed them how she looks after pupils when they feel unwell or need a little care and attention. The children were fascinated to learn about her equipment and even had the chance to lend a helping hand with a couple of ‘patients’!

The week continued with a trip to the school kitchen, where the children found out how our hardworking catering team prepare the delicious meals we enjoy every day. There was great excitement as they peered into the huge fridge and discovered just how much food is needed to feed a whole school.

Reception have quickly realised that it takes many dedicated people to keep King’s St Alban’s running smoothly, and they are eager to continue their exploration. Next on their list is Terry, who helps to keep our school grounds looking wonderful and the children can’t wait to learn more about how he does it!

What a brilliant start to term for our enthusiastic young learners!
