Reception enjoy first school trip!

Last week, our Reception Classes enjoyed their very first school trip! Excitement was high last Thursday as our Reception pupils were dropped off at their classrooms. The children were eager to start their big adventure and, after a quick registration, they boarded the school minibuses outside the front office, bound for Churchfields Farm.

Churchfields was the perfect choice for the children’s first school trip. As the farm is conveniently located just down the road, the minibus trip was short, and the children arrived ready to get stuck into their day of off-campus learning. On arrival, the children spent time looking around the farm. Churchfields started life as a simple dairy farm, but has diversified into different sorts of production, modern technologies and event spaces. Pupils enjoyed learning about the different processes that are in place on the farm.

One highlight of the day for the children was most definitely learning about how ice-cream is made. They were delighted to be invited to taste-test the product, which was a wonderful privilege! As well as ice-cream making, the children also had the opportunity to learn about the production of salt, which was not quite as tasty but an interesting topic nonetheless.

Churchfields is also home to a variety of animals, and our Reception Class got hands-on with helping to feed some of them. From goats to sheep and donkeys to cows, the children ensured all were well-fed!

After all their hard work, the children spent time on the different play areas. The Play Barn was very popular, as the children made use of the mini-tractor circuit and the large undercover sandpit. Time was also spent exploring the enormous outdoor play area, where the children (and staff) demonstrated their bravery by scaling the high climbing frames and slides.

The children had a fantastic day and were brilliant ambassadors for the School. They finished their day with a very well-deserved ice-cream. Well done, Reception!
