Reception Share With Me Morning
On Wednesday morning, Reception was buzzing with excitement as the children welcomed their parents into the classroom to experience a day in the life of Reception.
The children kicked off the morning by proudly showcasing their phonics skills through their ‘bag of sounds’ activity. Each child picked a sound from the bag, and with the help of Mrs. Thorp, they worked together to blend these sounds into words, demonstrating their growing reading abilities. It was a fantastic way to show how much they have already learnt.
Next, it was time for the children to take the lead and give their parents a tour of the classroom. Various engaging learning activities were set up both inside and outside for the children and their parents to explore together. The children eagerly chose activities and confidently guided their parents through each one. From creating repeating patterns on pumpkins to taking on a tricky physical bilateral challenge, there was something for everyone. The phonics activities were a hit, but one of the most popular outdoor stations involved using water squirters to match quantities up to 10, great fun and learning combined!
The classroom was filled with busy, smiling children and parents, and it was wonderful to see everyone working together. It truly gave parents a special glimpse into the exciting and interactive learning that happens every day in Reception.
As the morning came to a close, we gathered to sing our goodbye song, ‘Tickly Rain,’ though no one seemed quite ready for the session to end. The Reception children were excellent teachers, showing off their confidence, skills, and enthusiasm. We are so proud of them!
