Reception’s First Big Adventure
On Wednesday, our Reception cohort enjoyed their very first offsite school trip, with a visit to Little Owl Farm Park. Excitement was sky high as the children boarded the minibus and made the short journey across town to the Farm. It was a perfect first trip for the children, as they had the opportunity to meet lots of different animals in the park. From handling guinea pigs to looking at five-day old piglets, the children loved the chance to get up close to the animals.
The children were busy all day, finding out about the different animals; Mrs Thorp was really impressed with the children’s thirst for knowledge and their excellent questions throughout. There was a lot of walking, but the children took it all in their stride. One of the highlights of the trip was a very bumpy ride on a tractor trailer. On their off-road adventure, the children learnt about rheas and all the other larger animals on the farm. There was also lots of space for the children to play on the adventure equipment and bounce on the big outdoor pillows, which they loved, squealing with excitement!
It was such a pleasure to take Reception on their first school trip and the staff felt very proud of them; all the children were exceptionally well-behaved and asked lots of interesting and thoughtful questions. The children were all exhausted from their big adventures by the end of the day, which made for a very quiet journey back to school!
