Reception’s Wonderful Weekly Library Visits

Reception have absolutely loved their weekly visits to our beautiful Pre-Prep library this term. Each week, the children excitedly climb the stairs, eager to explore the shelves and discover what new stories await them. The library has quickly become a favourite space, calm, welcoming and full of possibilities!

Once inside, the children enjoy the independence of choosing their own books. Many gravitate towards familiar favourites, delighting in retelling well-loved tales to their friends, while others are drawn to more challenging reads, showing growing confidence in their reading choices. The non-fiction section is always a popular stop too; our young learners are endlessly curious, selecting books about animals, space, transport, nature and more, eager to deepen their understanding of the world.

After plenty of browsing, everyone settles down for a shared story time. The children take great pride in helping choose which books we read together, often selecting stories linked to their interests or current classroom themes. These moments are always filled with laughter, wonder and thoughtful discussions.

Before heading back to the classroom, the children carefully pick a book to take with them one they can enjoy during quiet reading time at the end of the day. Their enthusiasm for books continues to grow each week, and it is a joy to see their love of reading flourish
