Remote Learning in a New Year

The New Year saw our Spring term launch straight into remote learning and virtual assemblies, and at the end of our second week of remote learning in Lockdown 3, our incredibly adaptable staff at King’s St Alban’s have delivered an astounding 750 hours of live lessons over the past ten days.

Mr Chapman, Head of King’s St Alban’s provides an update on how our teachers, now digital champions,  have ensured that learning can be continued online at the switch of a button.

“I am delighted and blown away by the quality and quantity of work going on, both remotely and through our key worker care.  My staff did an outstanding job of reverting back to remote learning following last week’s eleventh-hour announcement on schools.  A sensible but thorough and challenging timetable is now in place for all children with live lessons, form periods and assemblies.  One of the points on our ‘KSA 10 point plan for maintaining our mental health during lockdown’ is to ‘embrace learning’ and this is happening in spades from Reception to Year 6.

I am so proud that the dedication of staff, positivity and resilience of children and ongoing support of parents, ensured KSA children did not lose out on their vital learning during the last lockdown and I am sure the same will happen this time.  It is a time for us all to pull together, be kind and support one another.  These are challenging times for all families so if we can ensure that we have a stimulating, accessible and flexible remote learning package in place, that might be one less thing for parents to worry about.”

We have received some fantastic feedback from parents who have either had to return to home schooling or who are critical workers and their children are in school:
