Review of the Week: Autumn Term Week 10

Today’s Celebration Assembly was a little different in order to accommodate the last-minute rehearsals that are taking place for tonight’s Dance Showcase. With our Prep pupils busily rehearsing, pupils from Pre-Prep gathered in the Music Department to celebrate the achievements of the week.

The assembly started with a very special musical performance. Harper (Y1) had impressed Mrs Hughes earlier in the week with a beautiful rendition of Castle on a Cloud from Les Miserables. Harper is taking part in a festival this week and had prepared the song alongside some dance routines. She treated her peers to a delightful performance of the song. The audience were transfixed, and we all wish Harper well in the festival this weekend.

Staying with the music theme, Mrs Hughes then led the children in this week’s hymn. It was a fairly new hymn for many of the children, but Year 2 stepped up to the plate by singing loudly and clearly. They were wonderful role models for the younger children.

Before awarding this week’s Subject Merits, Mr Butt asked the children if they knew for what Subject Merits were awarded. The children gave a range of answers including working hard, making extra effort or practising outside school. Mr Butt then linked this back to Growth Mindset. If a child is finding part of their learning tricky and asks for help or extra work to practise, they are showing a positive mindset and great resilience.

Well done to the following pupils who received Subject Merits:

Year 1:

Alex V, Alfie P, Alexander S-V, Aoife W, Bonnie W, Brax B, Emily G, Frank O’M, Georgina N, Isla H, Perle Y and Rupert C.

Year 2:

Alanna A, Amelie B, Bruce W, Constance C, Ellie M, Evelyn J, Fearne B, Ffion W, Georgia P, Joshy R, Rosie J, Tilly and Tom H.

Ahead of announcing this week’s Top House Point Achievers, Mr Butt again asked the children to consider what pupils needed to do in order to achieve House Points. Answers ranged from good work, learning lines for the nativity to helping people if they are struggling and including children on the playground if they are on their own.

This week’s Top House Point Achievers in Pre-Prep were:

Oliver N (Rec), Alexander SC (Y1) & Alanna A (Y2).

Mr Butt finished the assembly with a prayer.
