Roll Up, Roll Up for Pre-Prep’s Circus
Pre- Prep have had a super start to the Summer Term! Every year, we begin the Summer Term with our Arts Week. This special-themed week inspires the work for our Summer Show in May and this year we decided on a circus theme. We started the week with Mrs Gunter leading the children in a musical experience, all themed around the circus. The children listened to different music, danced and enjoyed discussing what they had listened to. They are also starting to practise their songs ready for the show. In the afternoon we headed off to the famous Gifford’s Circus. The children were mesmerised by the amazing array of acrobats, animals and performers and we will certainly be back next year! On Wednesday, the children all attended a circus skills workshop run by Shooting Stars. Each class, including Nursery, learned how to juggle, spin plates and use different circus equipment; we seem to have many budding acrobats in Pre-Prep! The children loved experimenting with the different equipment, were enthusiastic and engaged throughout the sessions and loved wearing the special waistcoats to get them into role! Steve emailed afterwards to say how wonderful the children had been throughout the day.
On Thursday the children experienced a carousel of art activities all focused around the circus. They moved round the classrooms creating clowns, acrobats and painting beautiful circus tents, using different materials and techniques. They all worked hard to produce beautiful art work and these will be on display during the Summer Show.
The children have had a fantastic week, with lots of inspiring practical learning, and we are already looking forward to sharing our Summer Show with parents at the end of this half term; there’s sure to be a few surprises!
