Samba Rhythms Bring Carnival Magic to King’s St Alban’s

This week our Nursery, Reception, and Year 3 pupils turned up the energy at a dazzling Samba drumming workshop, bringing the vibrant spirit of the Rio Carnival to life!

Held in our historic school chapel, the workshop was an explosion of sound, rhythm, and joy. Led by Nick Ledbury, a brilliant musician from the percussion group Glamba, the session gave our pupils the chance to experience the magic of Samba first-hand.

The air was alive with the beat of drums and the rattle of shakers as the children experimented with a variety of instruments, from thundering bass drums to delicate tambourines. They enthusiastically learned Samba rhythms, creating an electrifying class performance filled with creativity and flair. And it wasn’t just about the music, dance moves added even more sparkle to the day! With boundless energy, the children showed off their best moves, including a hilarious crowd-pleaser, the ‘funky jellyfish.’

The chapel buzzed with excitement as the pupils’ enthusiasm proved absolutely infectious. It was an unforgettable day of hands-on learning, creativity, and most importantly, fun!

A big round of applause to all our budding Samba stars, you filled the school with rhythm, joy, and carnival magic!
