Skill, Teamwork, and Determination on Display at Hockey Festivals
It was an exciting day on Wednesday as our children took part in both the U11 Tournament at The Grange and the U9 Winterfold Festival. The girls gave it their all, showing great skill, teamwork, and determination in both events.
The U11 girls’ hockey team took part in a thrilling tournament at The Grange, delivering a series of strong performances. The girls showcased impressive skills and teamwork throughout the day, advancing all the way to the semi-finals. In a hard-fought match, they narrowly lost to Bromsgrove, but not without giving it their all.
The team had several standout moments. Millie and Iza both contributed crucial goals, while Pippa P’s incredible strike was a highlight, resulting in a well-deserved goal. Captain and goalkeeper Mary gave an outstanding performance, making several crucial saves that kept her team in contention throughout the competition. Year 5’s Jasmine O played a fantastic role in midfield, controlling the flow of play, while Pip K and Olivia formed a solid defensive line. Thea made a steady and confident return to the field following her injury, adding strength to the team.
Meanwhile, the U9 girls had the chance to shine at the Winterfold Festival, where every girl in Year 4 was given the opportunity to play. The festival provided valuable match play and tournament experience, as the team competed against four different schools. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the girls played with enthusiasm and energy, enjoying every moment of the festival.
Both tournaments were filled with memorable moments, and it was a fantastic day of hockey for all the pupils involved. The experience gained will surely benefit them in future competitions, with each player contributing to their team’s success.
