U8 King’s St. Alban’s Festival
The Year 3 girls enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at King’s St. Alban’s, taking part in a fun and inclusive festival. Playing in mixed teams, they experienced a variety of games, including netball matches with posts and ‘endball’ challenges, whilst also honing their shooting skills with staff support.
The girls focused on marking and finding space. Georgina excelled in attack, moving quickly down the court, getting ahead of the ball to receive. Indie impressed Miss Lake with her increased confidence and interceptions, whilst Maddie showed great movement across the court, making many attempts on goal. All the players demonstrated wonderful progress and teamwork, making the most of the opportunity to play alongside their King’s St. Alban’s friends.
U11 Girls Netball vs. King’s St Alban’s
Mrs Beech’s Team
Mrs Beech’s U11 team delivered a fantastic performance against King’s St Alban’s, demonstrating skill, determination, and teamwork in a fast-paced and competitive match.
From the start, the girls showcased strong, accurate passing, allowing them to move the ball fluidly and maintain possession. Their excellent use of the court’s width from Millie, Marnie and Sophie created space for attacking opportunities, while the centre court players of Lyra and Iza, displayed superb decision-making (especially from Pippa P), linking defence to attack with speed and precision.
The team’s shooting was outstanding, with confident and well-placed shots from Marnie, Pippa P and Sophie ensuring they capitalised on their attacking play. Their ability to work the ball into the circle effectively by Pip K and Marnie was a testament to their strong communication and awareness on court.
A brilliant all-round performance, with every player contributing to a well-fought and exciting match. Well done, girls an excellent pre match warm up before the national IAPS competition!
Player of the match was awarded to Millie B.

U10 Netball vs Winterfold
On Wednesday we were fortunate to find a dry window in the weather to host Winterfold for our U10 Netball Fixtures. The rain had left a few puddles and wet playing surface and all the girls showed huge resilience in dealing with a slippery ball and the problems this creates in keeping possession.
Robyn’s team made a tremendous start with some excellent defensive play by Robyn and Valerie making some crucial interceptions. There were some really nice passages of attacking play through the centre court with Indie working hard to get free from her marker and linking with Abbie and Charlotte F, passing the ball fluidly between them. Daisy and Adelyn marked their players with precision and limited the oppositions chances of receiving the ball throughout the game. Overall it was a great team effort led by Robyn as captain and with Adelyn named as player of the match.
Ariana led her team out as captain winning the first centre pass and giving her maximum in every area of the court. Annie and Georgia worked tirelessly to stick with their defenders and to keep moving the ball through the attack at pace. Zara and Florrie linked up nicely from centre court to the attacking third creating numerous shooting opportunities. Izzy was as accurate as ever with her shooting putting a number of goals on the score sheet whilst also making meaningful moves in the centre of the court. This team played particularly well together with the player of the match being awarded to two girls, Zara for her hard work in every area of the court and Izzy for her accurate shooting and overall attitude throughout.
Charlotte P’s team played some beautiful attacking Netball and as captain, Charlotte gave her maximum effort to every position she took on. Ruby and Rosie’s marking was faultless with some particularly spectacular interceptions by Rosie. Maysie-Jayne took nasty tumble in the second game but Miss Holtham was very impressed with her resilience and her overall contribution to the team. Jasmine gave her maximum in every position and rotation, she was highlighted for her positivity and encouragement of her teammates which is so important. Bella was nominated as player of the match by the opposition for her accurate shooting and overall positive attitude contributing to an excellent team performance.
A special mention to all the King’s Hawford girls who stepped up to play for the opposition to make up the numbers, all of the girls played brilliantly for the opposition with excellent attitudes. Both Miss Holtham and Mrs Butt were very proud of them.
Football
U11 Football vs Winterfold
The King’s Hawford under 10 football team started the half term with a keenly contested fixture against Winterfold. Having to battle the Winterfold slope in the first half they were indebted to the defensive heroics of Will G and Jack J who stemmed a number of incisive Winterfold attacks.
The second half was a different story with the Hawford midfield dominating possession and territory and providing chances for Fred W who was a constant threat in the final third. Hawford’s thoughtful passing and running off the ball paid off with a delightful team goal finished with aplomb by Jack J. Hawford were unlucky not to add to this goal as they continued to cause Winterfold problems. The boys will look to build on this performance as they move into the final few fixtures of the term.
