U9 Netball vs. The Elms
On Tuesday afternoon, sixteen girls travelled over to The Elms, Colwall, to play a friendly match against their U8 and U9 teams. The King’s Hawford players were split into two mixed-ability teams, playing 5-a-side Beeball netball, without positions. Both teams showed dominance on the courts, swiftly moving the ball up the court and demonstrating accurate shooting. To make it more difficult for the King’s Hawford girls, they were then set challenges to make them think about positioning on court and finding space. The Elms nominated Eleanor and Alanna the players of both matches

Football
U9 Football Tournament at RGS The Grange
On Tuesday afternoon the year 4 boys travelled to RGS The Grange to take part in a 10-team tournament. The boys were matched up against Blue Coat, Warwick, Claines and Winterfold in the group stage. They started the first match full of energy and enthusiasm and were eager to apply the one-two passing strategies that they have been developing in recent games sessions. Despite the strong opposition, Mr Hodgkins was delighted with the effort levels and positivity that the boys demonstrated all afternoon. Josh was especially impressive in possession, making several strong dribbles into dangerous areas to create goalscoring opportunities. Cassian also showed superb work rate, determination and dynamism all afternoon, consistently regaining possession in the middle of the park and distributing well to his teammates.
Football vs Winterfold and King’s St Alban’s
On Wednesday afternoon the year 6 boys welcomed teams from Winterfold and King’s St Alban’s for a triangular football fixture on the top field. Mr Hodgkins’s team had much of the possession in their first match against Winterfold but could not quite get their passing game going with as much accuracy and energy as they have become accustomed to. As such, and despite a couple of near misses in front of goal, the match became somewhat of a stalemate with neither team able to penetrate their opponents’ defences. The boys really picked up their game in the second match with KSA and demonstrated much more intensity and drive in possession. They remained solid in defence and made much more effective decisions when moving the ball in attack and, as a result, were a constant goal threat. Charles showed excellent quick thinking to grab a poachers goal before Jude applied a superb finish from a tight angle late on in the match. Next week the year 6 boys will take on Hereford Cathedral School on Wednesday before the ISFA squad travel to Clifton College on Friday for the regional competition.

Under 8’S Vs The Elms
Our Under 8 side have been growing in both skill and confidence throughout the term, putting in some excellent performances. This Tuesday they had the opportunity to show all that they had learnt when hosting five other teams, mostly made up of Under 8 and 9 boys. The boys started well with a strong showing against The Elms that saw the boys score a number of well taken goals with Billy K hitting the back of the net twice. Next up was an attritional game against RGS the Grange that ended even; Frank M being the pick of the players, as he appeared to cover every blade of grass. Warwick were a different proposition, with some large, physical boys that King’s Hawford found it more difficult to play their free-flowing style of football against, however, they were back soon on form against King’s St. Alban’s with wave after wave of attack seeing a number of boys scoring. This was a great day’s football in the sunshine, truly enjoyed by all.
Under 11’s Vs St Alban’s and Winterfold
On Wednesday afternoon, our Under 11 boys hosted St.Alban’s and Winterfold in a triangular fixture. Mr Stigant’s side were on top form and were able to show exactly how far their team interplay has come over the course of the season. Add some clinical finishing and solid defensive work and you immediately have the recipe for a very enjoyable and successful afternoon of sport. Special mentions this week must go to our midfield three Harry G, Barnaby J and Noah L who drove the team forward, as well as quickly retreating, when required, to defend where necessary. Barnaby and Harry also chipped in with a number of goals to add to the handful that our loan striker Nayel cooly slotted into the net. It is a genuine pleasure to see how far these boys have come in a few weeks.
