Staying Active and Healthy in Year 2

Year 2 have had a busy and active week in science, learning all about the importance of exercise and the many benefits it has for our bodies. Through practical and engaging activities, they explored how exercise helps to keep us healthy, strong and energised.

In the hall, pupils took part in a range of exercises for one minute at a time, including hopping, star jumps and walking lunges. They carefully counted how many they could complete and then reflected on how their bodies felt before and after each activity, noticing changes such as increased heart rate and breathing.

The learning continued back in the classroom, where Year 2 enjoyed brainstorming different types of exercise and sharing their favourites. It was a great opportunity to link science with wellbeing and encourage positive attitudes towards staying active. A fantastic week of energetic learning!
