King's Hawford

9 June

Summer sport is in full swing.

U8 Girls v RGS The Grange.

The U8 cricket team travelled to RGS the Grange and played an adapted style of cricket focusing on batting skills, fielding skills, and communication when running between the wickets.

King’s Hawford won the toss and chose to field first. We have been working hard on our bowling and although we still have work to do, our aim and bowling style was much improved.

When our batting players took to the field, we were looking to hit the ball with power, also looking to place the ball between the outfielders. Bella (our captain) and Ruby were impressive at achieving this and scored several 4s between them, striking the ball with power and accuracy. Our fielders were much improved at communicating, Rosie and Adelyn in the game, quickly returned the ball to the bowler halting further runs being scored.

A super effort by the U8 cricketers who displayed the basics of the game well and will now be focusing on their bowling skills ahead of further games during the summer term

Mrs Beech was pleased that Ruby was recognised as player and chose Bella as her player of the match for excellent communication and batting technique.

U8 Girls Cricket vs RGS The Grange

The girls enjoyed a great game in beautiful weather with both teams learning together. Our girls were brilliant and showed super consistency with their bowling. All of the team concentrated well with batting and started to make better decisions when running between the wickets. Well done to Florrie W and Valerie M for putting in some star performances.

U9 Girls v Blue Coat.

U9 girls travelled to Blue Coat on Tuesday afternoon for x2 matches of pairs cricket. The girls were all very excited and showed they worked well within their teams. The girls batted well particularly Millie B and Pippa P who showed great communication to each other and managed to be the highest scoring pair.  Pip K really impressed Miss Holtham with her bowling taking 3 wickets from the opposition. Mrs Horrocks team also worked well together showing they have improved their batting and fielding skills from their last match and were making some good fielding decisions as a team.  She was really impressed with Sophie W and Olivia G who showed some strong batting and bowling. Overall the girls all enjoyed their afternoon out to Birmingham and look forward to their next fixture.

U11/ U10 Girls v Bromsgrove School

U11/U10 Girls travelled to Bromsgrove on Wednesday afternoon for 3 games of pairs cricket in the sunshine. Mr Stigant took some of the girls for a hardball pairs game and was really impressed with the effort and teamwork the girls showed. The girls showed great skills when fielding and batting and Rose G, Erin L and Holly J showed some strong bowling managing to take a few wickets from the opposition.  Miss Kingston and Miss Holtham’s teams had an enjoyable afternoon showing their bowling had improved and putting their recent fielding exercises into practice. Overall, a lovely afternoon of cricket with the U10 and U11 girls.

U11 Boys Cricket Tournament at RGS Worcester

The boys enjoyed a fantastic full day event of cricket in the summer sunshine. The team played 4 matches and demonstrated excellent skills in bowling, batting and fielding. The event culminated in a playoff against King’s St Alban’s that was a close match in which Hawford hit the winning runs in the final over. Oliver B, George O and Ismail B batted superbly throughout the day.
