Surprise Celebrations to Kickstart the Week

Pupils gathered in The Barn on Thursday morning for assembly and were treated to a surprise Celebration Assembly. Owing to Friday’s Carol Service rehearsal, Celebration Assembly was moved forward by a day.

Elizabeth N gave a confident performance on the piano to start assembly. Mr Butt then presented Fearne B with her Level Five swimming certificate. Mrs Beech’s Year Six Skills Group have been busy making bunting for the Starlight Charity; it will be used to decorate children’s wards for those having to spend time in hospital over the Christmas period. Pupils have also been making festive mobiles and all involved received certificates from Starlight for their efforts.

Primary Maths Challenge Awards:

Bronze: Henry W, Thomas C, Evan N, Robyn G, Oscar H, Rhys M and Harry C.

Silver: George O, Teddy C, Lyra H, Finn MP and Holly J.

Gold: Sophia R and George M.

Headmaster’s Awards:

Following the success of last week’s Charity Concert, Miss Lusted selected one pupil from each Prep Class as her Star of the Concert. Well done to the following, who received HMAs for their participation:

Year 3: Sylvie P and Tom H.

Year 4: Valerie M and Charles H

Year 5: Jess K and Marnie P

Year 6: Harriet B and Sienna G.

Well done to Eleanor N and Bruce W, who impressed Miss Elliott with their fantastic owls. Aurelia A and Eleanor N have both produced some excellent paintings and, sticking with art, Jasper P has also been recognised for his brilliant artwork: he recently crafted a vibrant artwork portraying the rainforest.

Lily G was congratulated for an excellent recounting of a school trip. What was most impressive about Lily’s work was the fact she didn’t actually go on the visit! Her recounting was based on information provided by Mr Roberts and her peers.

Mr Butt was able to recognise some more fantastic work in German: Charles C, Freddie B, Mary W and Arthur O have produced some excellent independent writing in the subject. Jess K was also awarded an HMA for a beautiful piece of creative writing.

Year Six pupils have been inspired by the topic of World War One; taking inspiration from their learning, they have created battlefield scenes. Using a variety of different techniques, they were able to capture the gloom of the battlefields. Well done to Bella W, Darcey B, Teddy C, James B, Robyn G and Harriet B.
