Teambuilding trip brings resilience and creativity to the fore.
A coach full of very excited Year 5 children headed to the University of Worcester’s Lakeside Campus on Tuesday for a day of team-building activities. As the children departed from school, it was clear that the weather wasn’t going to be on their side. The black clouds that loomed over Worcester were ominous but could not deter the children’s enthusiasm for their trip.
Despite the stormy weather, the children were undeterred as they took to the water in canoes and kayaks. Throughout the day, pupils learnt new skills and how best to work together to win races and games out on the lake.
Some intrepid children even chose to jump into the lake at the end of the session before warm showers and a change of clothes! Back on (not much drier!) land, a wide variety of team activities helped the children discover that teams sometimes need clear leaders with vision and at other times it is all hands on deck that counts.
It was wonderful to see all of the children working so brilliantly together, even when pushed out of their comfort zones, allowing a great deal of resilience, creativity and kindness to come to the fore.
It was a fabulous day and Mrs Etherington, Miss Jordan and Mr Kent were delighted with the way in which all the children threw themselves into all the opportunities on offer, with the instructors commending them on their super behaviour and great listening skills.
