U11’s make History as Winners of an IAPS Hockey Tournament.

Wednesday 26th December

U11 Hockey IAPS at West Hill Park

What an incredible day for our U11 girls’ hockey team at the IAPS Small Schools’ Tournament hosted by West Hill Park! The girls displayed skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the competition, making history as KSA’s first-ever winners of an IAPS hockey tournament.

Pool Stages: We started strongly with a convincing 4-0 win against Monmouth, showcasing excellent passing and clinical finishing. The second game against Aldro was a tougher challenge; despite taking the lead, we allowed them back into the game and had to settle for a 2-2 draw—a reminder to keep focus throughout. The girls bounced back brilliantly in the third match, producing a dominant performance to beat Westbourne House 7-0, topping our group and securing a place in the semi-finals.

Semi-Final: Facing the hosts, West Hill Park, was always going to be a test. It was a tense start, but once the girls found their rhythm, they controlled the game and ran out 3-0 winners, booking their spot in the final.

Final – Monkton Prep: The atmosphere was electric, and nerves were high. From the first whistle, we dominated possession and created chance after chance—two shots hit the post and at least eight others went agonisingly close. Despite relentless pressure, the score remained 0-0 at full time, taking us into extra time and golden goal.

Then came the moment of magic: push back by Nell to Thea, back to Nell, out wide to Romi, Hannah made a perfect run to the post, and Romi fired home! A textbook finish to seal the win and crown us U11 Small Schools’ IAPS Champions!

A huge well done to Martha, Elizabeth, Millie, Nell, Thea, Romi, Hannah, Cerys, and Kasvika for their outstanding effort, teamwork, and resilience. This was truly one of the best days for KSA hockey—our first-ever IAPS tournament victory!

What a long day—but totally worth the 6am start and 8pm return!
