Water Safety Assembly – Staying SAFE by the Water
This week, pupils from across the school enjoyed an inspiring and informative Water Safety Assembly, led by a special visitor from the Canal & River Trust, the charity we are proudly supporting through our upcoming Mission 220: Stride & Splash challenge!
Our guest, a local volunteer from Diglis Basin, shared invaluable advice about how to stay safe near rivers, canals and lakes, an especially important topic as our pupils get ready to run and swim in aid of this fantastic cause next week.
The children learned the simple but vital safety message: Stay SAFE!
S – Stay
A – Away
F – From
E – Edge
Through an engaging, hands-on activity, pupils worked together to spot hidden dangers that can be found both in and around water. They were fascinated to learn about the unseen risks beneath the surface and how to keep themselves and others safe when exploring waterways.
Our visitor also spoke about the brilliant conservation work of the Canal & River Trust, including the Diglis Fish Pass and their wildflower and biodiversity projects along the River Severn, helping both people and wildlife thrive.
It was a brilliant and thought-provoking session that perfectly set the scene for next week’s charity challenge. We can’t wait to stride, splash, and raise money to support such an important organisation keeping both people and nature safe by the water.
