King's St Alban's

24 March

Weekly round up: Spring Term Week 12.

Thank you very much to Evie, who opened this morning’s assembly with a delightful piano solo, Once upon a Frozen Winter. She played beautifully, with superb expression.  Well done Evie!

Reception

  • As our Reception children are at the Worcester Countryside Centre this morning we will present their Superhero certificates next week.

Year 1

  • A Perseverance award went to Archie for the hard work and practice he has put into his handwriting.
  • For being a kind and patient friend, Hibah received a Super Star award.
  • Hugo was congratulated on his hard work in maths this week.
  • Tiegan and Thomas received a round of applause for the work they have put into their research files.  Thomas then had a second shout-out for learning to skip backwards in after school sports club.  Miss Jordan was very impressed with his co-ordination!

Year 2

  • Amber received a Kindness award for being a kind, caring and hardworking member of Year 2.  What a super role model!
  • Persie is the class Super Star for her great effort and determination in all her lessons.

Year 3

  • Edith, Alban and Cerys were congratulated on the great growth mindset they demonstrated when writing stories independently.
  • We congratulated Nell and Kasvika on the beautiful presentation they show in all of their work.

Year 4

  • Well done to Sofia on her excellent application to be a Roman Soldier.
  • Tilly, Ben, Charlotte and Izzy wrote excellent stories about freeing a dragon from a cellar.  They used the tricks of the writer’s trade to great effect.
  • Mrs Gunter was delighted to see Emma join Orchestra this week.  She showed terrific resilience when joining in with long term members of the group.

Year 5

  • Mrs Etherington was delighted with Otto and Rory on the work they did on area, perimeter and volume in maths.
  • Mrs Gunter was delighted to see Ariya and Suzie join Orchestra this week.  The girls’ positive attitude will make them a valuable addition to the group.

Year 6

  • Well done to Erin, Ivan, Georgia, Ace and Arthur on their excellent rewrite of ‘All the World’s a Stage.’ They demonstrated very clever use of metaphors.  Well done, all of you!
  • Sienna, Eshal and Ella were commended on their careful work on multiplication.
  • Annie made a treadmill from clay as part of her GYM Homework this weekend and then, sadly, broke it!   Not to be down-hearted she then made another one using different materials which she proudly showed to us this morning.  Well done Annie – true growth mindset!

Times Tables Certificates

  • We awarded 9 certificates today, including Gold for Joshua, Florence and Sienna C.

Worcester Competitive Arts Festival

  • Charlotte earned a distinction for her piano solo
  • Tom B was commended on the poem which he wrote and performed.

Teachers’ Pet Competition

  • Whilst the title of the competition might be slightly confusing, the aim was simple: from the photographs provided, guess which dogs, cats and rabbits belong to which member of staff!  Eighteen of the twenty pets pictured were correctly guessed by Ace, Erin and Georgia, who each won an Easter egg.

We had so many wonderful entries for this year’s poetry competition that Mr Low, the Head of English in the Senior School, faced a very hard decision.  Each of the runners-up and winners received a book token and the winners will read their poem to the audience during or Creative ConneXions performances next week.
