U11A Football v Winterfold

The U11 A football team competed against Winterfold House School on Wednesday afternoon. The team started strongly, with the opposing goalkeeper having to make some phenomenal saves to keep the score at 0-0. The deadlock was eventually broken through another outstanding strike from the prolific Charlie F. Bertie P then finished off another St Alban’s passing move with an acrobatic volley to send the ball past the keeper and make the score 2-0. Zach added his name to the scoresheet, making it 3-0 and rounding off another very impressive result.

U11B Football v Winterfold

On Wednesday, our U11B team took on a strong, physical Winterfold team on a beautifully crisp, sunny afternoon. The first half delivered some terrific football from both teams, with Freddie P striking cleanly to give us a 1-0 lead. After some end-to-end football and a goal from Archie, we went into the second half 3-2 down. Despite some excellent attacking play and some great chances, we couldn't quite find the back of the net, largely due to some terrific saves from the Winterfold keeper. The coaching staff were delighted with how the boys played, particularly in the second half. It would be unfair to pick out any individuals given the effort and commitment shown by all. Well done, boys.

U10A Football v Winterfold

The U10 A team had to produce a dogged display in order to better Winterfold. Conditions were good, but heading slightly downhill during the first half proved a bit of a disadvantage. The ball bounced frustratingly into touch on several occasions. Eventually, we managed to apply a little more control, and squeezed the ball into Winterfold’s net. The game remained close until in the second half when a strong shot beat their keeper. Winterfold defended stoutly, but we always looked the more likely to score.

U10B Football v Winterfold

The U10B’s put in a convincing performance on the pitch to better Winterfold 7-0. Harry F(2), Seth(2), Ollie P (1), Charlie F (1) and Haydn(1) made their mark on the game which we controlled from start to finish.  It was a very pleasing display of football from all the players. The coaching staff are proud of the way all of the players are growing in confidence and ability – especially Monty H, Will G, Ben G and John E. Congratulations to Seth who was awarded player of the match.

An end-to-end match was fiercely contested by both schools in an incredible match of netball. Incredible defensive stability and sharpness in front of goal from Ruby and Kate enabled us to come away with a hard-fought victory. Millie was deservedly rewarded with the player of the match award after covering every inch of the court!

Producing some beautiful flowing moves, the girls produced a highly entertaining match. A cameo goal attack position for Ellie saw her score 5 outstanding goals, with Rosa, Esme and Georgia also getting their names on the scoresheet. The stability of the defence was optimised with Immy being awarded player of the match after intercepting multiple Winterfold attacks.

The game started very evenly with both teams contesting the ball at every opportunity. There were some great interceptions by the defenders on both teams. Accuracy of passing was an issue at times but we still managed a 4-0 win. Player’s player was Clarisse, a well-deserved title!

The girls played extremely well and each seemed to know the space the other was running to. The ball was worked very well into the circle by Sonali and Immy. Phoebe made some great interceptions as centre. By half time we were winning 4-0. A quick swap around with some girls playing out of position saw the final score 4-2 to St Alban’s. Player’s player went to Phoebe, well done!

A strong start resulted in a great team goal finished by Martha. Despite some excellent moves and performances, especially from Ruby who was all over the pitch, the defence couldn't cope with the opposition’s extremely strong attack, resulting in a 6-2 loss for the girls.

The superb progression of the Year 3's continued with 2 1-0 victories. In the first game against RGS the girls covered the majority of the pitch, especially Lily-Mae from her central position, with Amelia scoring after a great move. In the second game against Winterfold the result could have gone either way with the ball going end to end. The defence stood resolute with Steph blocking passes and intercepting continuous balls. Fortunately, Amelia capitalised on one of our few chances to steal a victory.
