Welcome back to Music

After a long summer break, it has been a real joy to hear music ringing around King’s St Alban’s once again. Our choirs and ensembles have enjoyed meeting up again for their weekly rehearsals and are embracing the challenge of exploring new repertoire in preparation for our College Hall Concert in November. For our older pupils, this term has been the time when they step up into leadership roles, taking over the reins from last year’s Year 6 pupils. It has been wonderful to see them step seamlessly into their new roles. It is lovely to see so many of our new pupils getting stuck into as well, joining ensembles and pushing themselves out of their comfort zone while trying something new. Judging by their smiles, they are having a great time! 

The first full week back saw the return of our army of visiting instrumental teachers, and Matron has been kept busy escorting our youngsters to and from their lessons in the Music Department at ‘Big King’s’. A number of children have relished the excitement of starting a new instrument and it is clear that they are already gaining a huge amount of enjoyment from this experience. 

Our first Informal Concert of the term will take place on Friday 10th October (more information to follow). This will be a great opportunity for all our singers and instrumentalists to showcase their progress in music lessons this term and I am sure it will be a wonderful start to this year’s concert season.
