This year the children have chosen to support Winston's Wish as our school charity. Winston's Wish was the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity – supporting bereaved children since 1992. As the first charity to establish child bereavement support services in the UK, they continue to lead the way in providing specialist child bereavement support services across the UK, including in-depth therapeutic help in individual, group and residential settings.
The first fundraising event we ran this term was the cake sale. As always this was a really well-supported event with parents and children creating some wonderful baked goods for us to sell. We had so many donations we were able to run the event over two days- much to the children's glee! We are pleased that so much creativity and fun can come from an event aimed at supporting children requiring specialist support.
The cake sale raised over £350, which is a fabulous start to our charitable year and a record-breaking amount for a single cake sale. The next event is a Roy Orbison tribute concert next Thursday. The Year 3 to 6 children have been working hard to learn the songs, with special appearances from staff and music teachers. The highlights of the day will include a special Roy Orbison art show, a special Texan lunch, selfies with a life-size Roy Orbison cut-out and much more!
