Year 1 Become Place Value Experts

Year 1 have been working incredibly hard in their maths lessons as they develop their understanding of the place value of two-digit numbers. Using practical resources such as Base 10 and Numicon, the children have explored how numbers are made up of tens and ones and have confidently partitioned numbers into their different parts.

They have then applied this understanding to part-whole models, helping them to deepen their knowledge and make important mathematical connections. The children have particularly enjoyed working with larger numbers and have shown great enthusiasm when ordering and comparing them, as well as finding one more and one less.

We are very proud of the progress Year 1 have made and the positive attitude they have shown towards their learning. Well done Year 1 keep up the fantastic work!
